Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you’ll be transferred to Moshi for a briefing and preparation. This day is essential for acclimatization and ensuring all your gear is ready for the trek.
Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Big Tree Camp
Elevation: 7,742 ft to 9,498 ft
Begin your trek at Londorossi Gate with registration and permits. Hike through the dense rainforest to Big Tree Camp, spotting unique flora and fauna along the way.
Day 2: Big Tree Camp to Shira Camp 1
Elevation: 9,498 ft to 11,500 ft
Today’s trek continues through the forest before transitioning into the heath zone. The trail offers views of the Shira Plateau and distant peaks.
Day 3: Shira Camp 1 to Shira 2 to Moir Hut
Elevation: 11,500 ft to 13,800 ft
Journey across the Shira Plateau to Shira 2, then head to Moir Hut. This day includes exploring volcanic rock formations and acclimatizing.
Day 4: Moir Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 13,800 ft to 15,190 ft to 13,044 ft
Ascend to Lava Tower, a significant acclimatization point, then descend to Barranco Camp. This trek includes dramatic views and the challenge of Lava Tower.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Elevation: 13,044 ft to 13,106 ft

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, then departure
